PDP Leadership Crisis: Court Affirms Anyanwu, Secretary
By Gideon Ayeni

The Supreme Court has affirmed Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the rightful National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), overturning an earlier judgment by the Court of Appeal in Enugu.
In its landmark ruling on Friday, the apex court nullified the appellate court’s decision, which had ruled against Anyanwu’s continued tenure as PDP scribe.
The Supreme Court upheld the argument presented by Anyanwu’s legal team, stating that both the Court of Appeal and the lower court in Enugu lacked jurisdiction over the matter since it pertained to the internal affairs of the PDP.
This ruling solidifies Anyanwu’s position as the legitimate National Secretary of the opposition party, bringing an end to the legal battle over his leadership role.
In another development, Former Kano State Governor and leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, calling it unconstitutional and a dangerous precedent for Nigeria’s democracy.
In a statement shared on his social media pages, Kwankwaso expressed deep concern over Tinubu’s decision to suspend Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and the entire Rivers State House of Assembly.
He described the move as an abuse of executive power, warning that it could fuel political instability across the country.
