Senator Tony Nwoye Uniforms Donation

Like a river nourishing the land, Senator Tony Nwoye has gifted 25,000 uniforms to Catholic and Anglican women, honoring their love, strength, and unwavering devotion.

In a grand gesture of generosity and recognition of the vital role of mothers in society, Senator Dr. Tony Nwoye, representing Anambra North Senatorial District, has donated 25,000 six-yard pieces of Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) and Anglican Women Mary Sumner uniforms. The donation, made in celebration of the 2025 Mothering Sunday, was presented to women from both Catholic and Anglican denominations across the region.

The beneficiaries include members of the CWO from Onitsha Archdiocese and Aguleri Diocese, as well as Anglican women from four dioceses: Diocese on the Niger, Ogbaru Diocese, Niger West Diocese, and Niger East Diocese of the Anglican Communion. The high-quality fabrics, sourced directly from China, symbolize unity, dignity, and recognition of the indispensable role women play in shaping families and communities.

While presenting the bales of uniforms, Senator Nwoye articulated his deep admiration for mothers, describing them as the pillars of society. He emphasized their immeasurable influence on the moral and ethical foundation of the younger generation, stating, “The influence of a mother in the lives of her children is beyond calculation.”

The senator recounted the heartfelt plea of an elderly indigent CWO member who approached him after his election victory at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Fegge Onitsha. The woman expressed her deep desire to own a CWO uniform, lamenting that she and others like her often felt excluded from meetings due to their inability to afford the attire. Moved by her words, Senator Nwoye vowed to ensure that no Christian mother within his senatorial district would be deprived of this symbol of belonging. He firmly warned that the uniforms were not to be sold but freely distributed to those in need. Extending his goodwill beyond the Catholic community, he also ensured Anglican mothers received equal support.

In his address, the distinguished senator urged mothers to reclaim their role as the conscience of society, boldly speaking out against poor leadership and societal ills. “Ndi Nne are known to be agents of truth. Today, mothers are afraid to speak out, and our society is suffering for it. Kidnapping, ritual killings, armed robbery, and the relentless quest for wealth have taken over our communities. We need to rediscover our courage to effect real change in our families, our society, our dear state, Anambra, and Nigeria at large. And it is the mothers who will champion this change.”

The donation ceremony was graced by esteemed representatives of the beneficiary groups. Mrs. Ngozi Nwanosike, Director of CWO Onitsha Archdiocese; Mrs. Angela Ejike, Secretary of CWO Aguleri Diocese; and Mrs. Uche Igwebuike, representing Christian mothers from the Anglican Communion in Ogbaru Diocese, received the fabrics with gratitude. They offered heartfelt prayers for Senator Nwoye, thanking him for his generosity and unwavering support for women.

In addition to the uniform donation, Senator Nwoye extended his benevolence by gifting a Toyota Corolla to Chief Ossy Chinwuba, a respected community leader and former House of Assembly member. The gesture, he stated, was in appreciation of Chief Chinwuba’s steadfastness over the years and to aid his mobility within the senatorial district.

As the celebrations for Mothering Sunday unfold, this remarkable act of kindness stands as a testament to the power of leadership grounded in empathy and service. Through his unwavering support for women, Senator Tony Nwoye has not only clothed thousands but also reinforced the enduring values of unity, dignity, and community upliftment.
