Nigerian Man Property Family Alfa

After 23 years abroad, a Nigerian man returned to reclaim his property, but his family took him to an Alfa, labeled him insane, and detained him for 17 days against his will.

A Nigerian man, Bayo Salami, has returned to the country after 23 years abroad to reclaim the property he sent money to develop, only to face an unexpected and distressing situation.

Salami, a South Africa-based promoter, shared his ordeal upon arrival, detailing how his family denied his claims to the property and subjected him to an ordeal that left him feeling betrayed and trapped.

Appearing unsettled and disoriented, he was seen wearing clothes that were visibly worn out, with his trousers torn. The businessman, who had hosted major events featuring top artistes like Davido and Wizkid, now found himself in a shocking predicament. Initially, his family told him that an Alfa would pray for his success before he returned to South Africa. However, they later changed their stance, claiming he was mentally unstable due to his smoking habits and used this as justification for detaining him.

“They said I should go for prayers before returning to South Africa,” Salami recounted. “Then they changed it, saying I was mad because I smoke. But I’m not insane!”

What was meant to be a spiritual exercise turned into a nightmare. Salami recounted that upon arrival at the Alfa’s location, he was suddenly pushed into a room where several other individuals had been confined for months. “I thought he wanted to pray for me,” he said. “Suddenly, he just pushed me inside one room. I saw some people there, they were there for six months and one year. Their living condition is very terrible. I was like, what am I doing here?”

Salami spent over 17 days in this distressing situation. “They bring food for me, but they collect it from my hand. Even the mat my sister bought for me, they took it away. I’m under stress,” he lamented.

Despite his repeated efforts to contact his relatives, he was met with silence and abandonment. His situation highlights the plight of many Nigerians in the diaspora who invest in their home country, only to be deceived and mistreated upon their return.

With no response from authorities so far, Salami continues to seek justice, calling for intervention and awareness regarding his ordeal. “See the way I look now. I am homeless. I am not insane,” he pleaded.
