Mr Macaroni Slams Sanwo-Olu Over Independence Bridge Gridlock Apology
By Benjamin Abioye

Nollywood actor and comedy skit maker, Debo Adedayo, also known as Mr Macaroni, has criticized Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s apology regarding the traffic congestion caused by the ongoing repair work on the Independence Bridge.
Governor Sanwo-Olu visited the Independence Bridge and asked Lagosians to be patient with the government during the repairs. He explained that the project was necessary for the safety of the bridge’s users, which has been in use for over 80 years. He urged people to consider online transactions and plan ahead if they had no urgent business in Victoria Island in the next few weeks.
In response to the governor’s appeal, Macaroni expressed his dissatisfaction with how the situation was handled. He argued that the difficulties Lagosians are experiencing due to the bridge repairs highlight the government’s lack of regard for citizens’ welfare.
“If the government had any regard whatsoever for the people of Lagos, these measures and more extensive ones would have been taken before yesterday to make this process as painless as possible for the people,” Macaroni said. He also criticized the lack of adequate planning, including a clear timeline for the project and better communication to avoid unnecessary hardship.
Macaroni continued by stating that if the federal and state governments, despite being from the same party, couldn’t work together effectively on such projects, it reflected poorly on the quality of leadership.
In a later tweet, Macaroni emphasized that Governor Sanwo-Olu was not doing anyone a favor by addressing the gridlock issue caused by the repairs, as it was his responsibility.
He further pointed out that the people of Lagos are the ones paying for the governor’s luxurious lifestyle, which isolates him from the daily struggles of the citizens. He said, “The Governor is not doing anyone a favor by addressing the hardship Lagosians are facing. It is his responsibility!!!”
Macaroni added that the people of Lagos contribute to the governor’s security, convoy, accommodation, and other privileges, making his life easier while they endure hardship. He urged Sanwo-Olu to serve the people with respect and commitment, saying, “The least you can do is to serve them with utmost respect and total commitment! They don’t deserve anything less!!!”
