Happy Birthday Senator David Mark, GCON, Okpokpowulu

Great men are steely and full of grit. They hardly talk, but when they do, wisdom oozes out. Under their ever-present smile, lurks a firm and fair mind. Fair, firm, and unwavering while on paths of truth and justice.

This is, but my feeble attempt to capture the essence of David Alechenu Bonaventure Mark, in a few words.

From then dusty roads of Oturkpo to the Military School in Zaria and from there to an enviable career in the military capping it up with twenty years in the Senate with eight years as Senate President, David Mark is a study in resilience, intelligence, doggedness, wit, humor, kindness, camaraderie, and firmness. Under your trademark shirt and trouser attire, is a V12 engine in a super turbo charged body.

Our dear SP, the years are increasing in numbers, yet not one iota of vintage you is diminished. You remain one of the best, if not the best, Senate President since our independence.

May your days be long as we thank God for your life’s journey thus far. I wish you many more years in good health, shared love with family and friends, and God’s abiding grace.
