How 14-Year-Old House Help Stabbed Employer To Death
By Benjamin Abioye

A 14-year-old house help, Dorcas Adebisi, has been accused of fatally stabbing her employer, Modupe Lawson, during an argument at their home in Oworonshoki, Lagos.
The incident occurred on April 9 at around 4:00 p.m. and was reported to the Oworonshoki Police Division by Lawson’s brother, Abayomi Samuel Aina, about an hour later. When police arrived at No. 13 Ayoola Street, they found Lawson lying in a pool of blood. The body was photographed and then taken to the Mainland General Hospital Mortuary in Yaba for autopsy.
Adebisi was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody. Authorities have stated that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.
Meanwhile, the Benue State Local Government Election Petition Tribunal is set to deliver its ruling today, April 12, 2025, regarding petitions related to the local government elections held on October 5, 2024.
The tribunal, convened at the NBA House in Abuja, is expected to address cases from local government areas including Gboko, Tarka, Makurdi, Gwer West, Gwer East, Guma, and Buruku.
The tribunal’s establishment follows the appeals from the original Local Government Election Petitions Tribunal. Led by Justice Dennis Igyuse, the Appeal Tribunal had to relocate from Makurdi to Abuja in March 2025 due to security concerns and an ongoing judiciary staff strike.
The Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, has claimed that he has successfully unified all political structures in the state under the All Progressives Congress (APC). In his first media chat held in Makurdi, Alia stated that his victory in the 2023 election was owed to the people, not any political class, and that this trend would continue. He emphasized that his strength lies in grassroots support, and despite any political challenges, he is focused on the work he has done for the state. Alia expressed confidence that his work would make him strong in the 2027 election.
