By Gideon Ayeni

A viral video showing Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, arriving Sokoto State with a heavily armed convoy has stirred controversy on social media.
The footage, which surfaced online, captured the moment Seyi Tinubu’s entourage—consisting of numerous vehicles and a significant security detail—drove into the state, prompting widespread reactions from netizens who questioned the purpose and scale of the visit.

Many Nigerians took to social platforms to express concern over what they described as an “abuse of state resources” and “unconstitutional display of power.” Critics argued that there is no official government role designated for the president’s son, and therefore, such a show of security presence and convoy was unnecessary and alarming.
Some commenters suggested that Seyi Tinubu’s visit may be politically motivated, with a few speculating that it could be an early move toward building a political base in the North ahead of future elections.
