What was meant to be a glamorous movie premiere turned heated when Laide Bakare confronted Eniola Badmus, nearly slapping her before security stepped in.

Under the shimmering lights and glitz of Nollywood’s gathering, tension danced alongside fame, as beauty clashed with bitterness.

What was meant to be a celebration of storytelling turned into a silent storm of unresolved emotions, as two stars—Laide Bakare and Eniola Badmus—stole the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

The altercation happened at the premiere of Owanbe Thieves, held on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Filmhouse Circle Mall, Jakande. The star-studded event, filled with celebrities and influencers, suddenly shifted mood when Eniola Badmus noticed Laide Bakare on the dance floor. Clearly upset, she moved away from the scene and continued dancing in the background.

But the distance didn’t keep drama at bay. Laide soon approached Eniola, confronted her, and attempted to slap her. Security personnel quickly intervened, stopping what could have been a full-blown brawl.

Though the trigger for the fight remains unknown, it appears to be a rekindling of past issues. Eniola had previously accused Laide of making insensitive remarks about her private life. “She mocked me for not having children or a family,” she once said, shedding light on their strained relationship.

Laide, however, had tried to clear the air, saying, “My comments were not meant to offend anyone. They were misunderstood.”

However, what began as a night to honour cinema ended with a scene unscripted—reminding everyone that even stars carry shadows.
