BREAKING: Protest Erupts In Port Harcourt For Fubara
By Benjamin Abioye

Supporters of suspended Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara have flooded the streets of Port Harcourt to protest for his reinstatement.
Hundreds of people came out in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, to show support for the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara with one of the largest protest to have rocked the oil city.
The demonstrators began their peaceful march from Aggrey Road in the Old Port Harcourt Township area, calling for the immediate return of the governor to office.
Wearing black clothes as a sign of protest, the crowd held up placards with messages such as, “Together we stand for Governor Sim Fubara,” “We want back our Governor, we all voted for,” and “Governor Fubara is the pride of Rivers People.” Their messages showed clear disappointment and frustration over his suspension.
This protest adds to the growing tension in Rivers State, following a series of similar actions both in support of and against the governor. These events have continued to unfold since March 18, when President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in the state. Along with Governor Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu and several members of the State House of Assembly were also suspended.
More updates are expected as the situation develops.
