PDP Vows To Retake Delta From APC
By Gideon Ayeni

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed disappointment over the defection of Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and former governor Ifeanyi Okowa to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oborevwori, alongside Okowa—who was the PDP’s vice presidential candidate in the 2023 general election—and several other stakeholders, officially joined the APC in what many have described as a major political upset in the South-South region.
Reacting to the development, PDP’s Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, described Governor Oborevwori’s departure as a painful blow to the party. He made the remarks while presenting a certificate of return to Chief Ezenwafor Jude, the PDP’s candidate for the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State.
Despite the setback, the PDP acting chairman, Damagum expressed confidence that his party— PDP would bounce back and regain full control of Delta’s political structure.
He also took a swipe at the APC on the national stage, stating that while President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may be strategizing ahead of the 2027 general elections, the ultimate decision lies with the Nigerian people.
“The 2027 election will be a contest between the APC and Nigerians,” Damagum declared.
