Musician Folarin Falz has condemned President Tinubu’s handling of national security, accusing him of failing in his main duty to safeguard the lives and property of citizens.

Nigerian musician and activist, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has openly criticised President Bola Tinubu for failing to protect citizens from increasing violence across the country.

He made this known through posts on his official X account while reacting to the recent mass killings in Benue State.

According to Falz, the President has not fulfilled one of his most important responsibilities, which is to keep Nigerians safe. He wrote, “You have consistently shown that you are incapable of performing the primary duty of securing lives and property of your citizens. This routine statement does not cut it.”

In another post, the artiste expressed deep frustration over the lack of attention to the tragedy in Benue, where hundreds of people were reportedly killed. “Over 200 senselessly slain and burnt alive in Benue and this is not even getting close to enough attention. Why are we so wicked to ourselves?” he asked.

Meanwhile, Falz also addressed rumors linking him to a controversial online personality, Idris Okunneye, popularly known as Bobrisky. The rumors began in 2024 after a leaked phone conversation allegedly between the two went viral, causing public speculation about Falz’s sexuality.

The rapper denied the allegations and explained during a television interview on June 4, 2025, that he only reached out to Bobrisky to offer support when asked. “I never had any relationship with Bobrisky prior to that phone call. He messaged me on Instagram and said, ‘I’m in this case and I want to speak to you about how you can help.’ And you know, thousands of people messaged me about similar stuff like that. This is not a special case; it’s not exceptional in any way,” he explained.

Falz further said that he usually listens to people in difficult situations and tries to assist when possible, but he now feels more cautious. “In a lot of those cases, I will give them an audience, like what is the P, how can I help? Compassionately. Little did I know. Anyways, as they say, once bitten, twice shy. At the end of the day, I’m not going to, maybe I’m not going to help anyone again in my life, but maybe I will be much more conscious.”

Providing an update on his court case with the person who shared the phone conversation, Falz said that he and his father have filed a defamation suit, but the defendant has yet to present a legal defence. “Update on the court case, very much still in court. There’s a substantive suit which myself and my dad are alleging defamation. We filed the case and ever since we filed the case, they have never entered the defense,” he said.

He added that the court had dismissed a preliminary objection raised by the other party. “Instead, they entered a preliminary objection saying the court doesn’t have jurisdiction to hear the case or something. As at the last date, I was in court. The court has thrown out that preliminary objection. Now they have to enter a defense or the court will just go on to rule on the case. So that’s the update. I can’t really say much about the subject of current litigation, so I will leave it there,” he concluded.
