MultiChoice DStv Decoder Price

MultiChoice Nigeria has announced a 50% price cut on its DStv decoder, reducing the cost from ₦20,000 to ₦10,000 to attract new users and reward loyal customers.

MultiChoice Nigeria has announced a significant reduction in the price of its DStv decoder. The price has been slashed from ₦20,000 to ₦10,000 — a 50 percent drop aimed at encouraging more customers to subscribe to the platform.

According to the company, this move is part of efforts to boost customer loyalty and provide better value, especially during these challenging economic times. The company’s CEO explained the motivation behind the decision.

“We want to ensure our customers feel appreciated and have access to the best entertainment every day,” he said.

He added that this is part of a wider initiative called the ‘We Got You’ campaign, which is designed to make premium entertainment more accessible. “The ‘We Got You’ campaign is about making premium content more accessible and showing that DStv offers something for everyone, not just football fans,” he explained.

The company also shared that its goal is to reposition DStv as a platform that offers daily value across a wide range of content, not just sports. This includes movies, drama, children’s shows, and news.

“This means more channels, more shows, and more reasons to tune in every day,” the statement noted.

In addition to the price cut, MultiChoice has introduced a promotional offer for subscribers. From June 16 to July 31, 2025, customers who renew their existing packages in full will be upgraded to the next package tier at no extra cost.

The company stated that both the price reduction and the free upgrade offer are responses to the rising economic challenges affecting many Nigerian households.

This announcement comes after the company experienced a sharp drop in subscriber numbers. Reports show that MultiChoice lost around 1.4 million subscribers between March 2023 and March 2025.

The move also follows a series of subscription price increases on both DStv and GOtv, which were implemented three times within the last year — in April 2023, November 2023, and most recently in May 2024.
