US Forces Kill ISIS Leader, Al-Baghdadi

Leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, ISIS Dr. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was killed in a raid late on Saturday by United States special forces in north-western Syria.

The raid was ordered by President Donald Trump. Following the success of the raid the president tweeted late on Saturday that something big has happened. The president is being expected to speak to Americans by 9.00 a.m. EST, which is 2.00 p.m. Nigerian time.

Latest details by US media monitored by GreenWhiteGreen claimed that he blew a suicide vest as the American troops penetrated his defences and advanced towards him. No U.S. casualty has been reported in the killing of the ISIS leader who had a $25 million bounty on his head.

His grip on Syria and the Middle-East had over the last few years lessened following operations by international forces including US and Russian forces.

Baghadadi just like his Nigerian proxy, Shekau had reportedly been reported killed several times in the past but this killing is said to have been genuine and sending excitement among US intelligence forces. It is claimed that information on his whereabouts was provided by the CIA though many other collaborators are claiming participation in the project.

US media quoting dependable sources say that only Russia was informed of the raid.

Earlier on Sunday morning, the the commander of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces had in a tweet spoken about a “successful and historical operation due to a joint intelligence work with the United States of America”.

Turkey’s minister of defence had also in a tweet revealed that “information exchange and coordination between the military authorities of both countries took place” before to the US operation in Idlib.

“The Turkish military did have advance knowledge of last night’s raid. We will continue to co-ordinate our actions on the ground,” said a senior Turkish official, without elaborating on the nature of the co-ordination, citing rules on commenting on intelligence-sharing.

US officials, however, dispute all that according to the US channel Fox monitored by GreenWhiteGreen in Nigeria.

President Trump had sometime ago said that the deceased could run but cannot hide.
