Nigerians have been reacting with mixed comments on a petition initiated to unravel allegations of drug dealing levelled against the Presidential flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.

The petition calls for a criminal review of allegations raised against the former governor. GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that there is no evidence of the former governor ever being found guilty of drug dealing, but the allegations have recently been raised again in a report authored by investigative journalist, David Hundeyin.

Following the report, a petition was initiated in the late hours of Tuesday, 19th July 2022 by a Nigerian, Ade Lani via change.org where he appealed for the criminal review of the allegations.

According to Lani the criminal review will enable Nigerians know in details who their potential president is in character and history.

Furthermore, Lani stated that the review would help Nigerians to be able to choose the right candidate to take over the leadership of the country.

A quick check on the progress of the petition reveals that the petition had as at 12:30 pm on Wednesday been signed by 21,300 persons.

Reacting to the report, many Nigerians took to their handles to share their views on the development.

See some of the reactions below.

@NabirAbduls: “Since the government has stayed muted on this issue, we the youth are taking it up and reclaiming our country. Bola Ahmed Tinubu must be interrogated for nobody is above the law.”

@Suaxzo; “Instead of signing a petition that won’t lead anywhere why can’t someone just drag him to court.. we all signed various petitions during #Endsars that led nowhere. All this one na waste of time.”

@AnthonyAnya33: “Man’s in real trouble “Bola Ahmed Tinubu” a Chicago Drug Lord.”

@WaleVision: “The fear of BAT dey worry all of una. Bring him down at all cost. You know you get no chance against him at the polls. The candidate who has a chance against him isn’t making noise.”

@Jack_ng01: “Wadata Plaza is silent on Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s drug case. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. I don’t know what to think right now. Is there anything they are hiding too? Come oooooo; wait wait. Nigeria is doomed if we allow either APC/PDP to win in 2023.”

@Helnkay: “Stop deceiving yourself, that petition is useless… Manchester United fans signed the same petition for Glazer to sell the club and for Maguire to be removed as a captain of the side, but the two requests of the petition is still intact… So, continue wasting your time.”
