Award winning Nigerian writer, Chief Chimamanda Adichie has been featured in a promotional video for the new version of the legendary Lady Dior purse.

The advertising campaign for the new Lady Dior 95.22 model also features some of the world’s most successful women from various backgrounds and ages.

An updated version of the vintage 1995 bag, the Lady Dior 95.22 bag was unveiled in 2022. It comes in two colours—black and coffee with milk—and three sizes—small, medium, and extra large.

The commercial was created in black and white by French photographer Brigitte Lacombe, who featured Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie wearing a white T-shirt with the phrase “We Should All Be Feminists” (an essay written by Chimamanda in 2014) and a black pant suit, WWD reports.

Bernadette Chirac, a former First Lady of France, gave the Princess of Wales, Lady Diana, the Gianfranco Ferré-designed Lady Dior in 1995. The handbag design, which is still produced in Florence at the Dior ateliers, won Lady Diana over as a dedicated devotee.

Dior captioned the post on their Instagram page;

“Debuting here with the writer @Chimamanda_Adichie, this new bag offers a totally contemporary reinvention of the icionic lines of the #LadyDior, with its Macro and Maxicannage motifs, soft curves and signature charms. Its unique name refrences the years of its predecessor’s and its own creation.”

GWG.ng reports that Chimamanda Adichie was at the end of last year crowned a chief by her local community in Anambra State and the Dior advert would be an extra to the plaudits she has won in her career.
