Finally, All Progressives Congress, APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has opened up on allegations of stockpiling a pile of old naira notes for vote-buying.

GWG.ng reports that several traducers had recently accused Tinubu of opposing the naira redesign policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN because of the alleged pile of old naira notes supposedly kept to buy votes.

They had claimed that Tinubu and the APC were the only ones among the mainstream parties and candidates opposed to the naira redesign policy supposedly because of the vote buying agenda.

Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Mahmud Jega, Tinubu while describing the claim as false said:

“We are not surprised that the PDP made a volte-face to conjure a completely unfounded allegation against Tinubu.

“Having realized that Atiku’s selfish, uncaring position has generated popular anger and resentment against him, it came up with this absurd claim that our candidate is mopping up new currency notes.

“We want to assure Nigerians that claim is utterly false.”

The statement affirmed that Tinubu’s opposition to the CBN naira redesign was not because of the vote-buying agenda but because he was speaking for the voiceless.
