Buhari Orders Recirculation Of Old N200 Notes; Says Old N500, N1,000 Remain Banned

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN to recirculate the old N200 notes in a way to ameliorate the sufferings of Nigerians.

However, the president said that the old N500 and N1,000 notes would no longer be legal tender.

The president disclosed these in a national broadcast on Thursday morning as he said that the naira redesign policy was achieving its desires of curtailing banditry, vote buying and monetary policy stability.

The president said that the old N200 notes will remain legal tender till April 10, 2023
