Nigeria vs Ireland: Super Falcons May Crash Out Of 2023 Women’s World Cup If…
Nigeria’s qualification for the Round of 16 at the ongoing Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand seems to be a foregone conclusion.
The Super Falcons go into their final Group B clash against the Republic of Ireland on top with four points.
Their first two games saw Randy Waldrum’s ladies record a goalless draw with Australia and a 3-2 win over Canada.
Nigeria will advance to the Round of 16 with a win or draw against Ireland. They will also qualify if they lose to Ireland and Canada defeat Australia.
However, the Falcons will be sent packing if they lose to Ireland and Australia beat Canada (and unfavorable tie-breaker vs. Canada) or they lose against Ireland AND Australia vs Canada ends in a draw (and unfavorable tie-breaker vs. Australia).
Nigeria wins Group B with a win over Ireland and Canada wins against Australia (and favorable tie-breaker vs. Canada) or they draw vs. Ireland and Canada draw vs. Australia (and favorable tie-breaker vs. Canada).
