Tourist-in-Chief: Reactions Trail Atiku’s Call For Tinubu’s Resignation
Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed sour displeasure over President Bola Tinubu’s trip to France while the nation is drowning in insecurity asking that he should resign if he is unable to steer the ship of state.
GWG.ng reports that Atiku expressed this via his X official account on Tuesday in which he expressed shock that Tinubu would leave the country for France on a private visit at a time that Nigerians were being dragged all over the country by bandits and kidnappers.
GWG.ng reports that while the reactions to the observation by Atiku was largely welcome on Twitter, there were some who while expressing concern over the visit to France by Tinubu also put the blame on the PDP 2023 presidential candidate with one critic, mischieviously asking if Atiku were himself tweeting from Nigeria.
Atiku said:
“Tinubu is playing fiddle while Nigeria is drowning in the ocean of insecurity. To imagine that the Commander-in-Chief is on a so-called private visit while kidnappers kill a nursing mother and grandmother in Abuja for failing to pay N90m ransom and two monarchs in Ekiti, among other regular tragedies besetting Nigerians.
Atiku further chided President Tinubu over the visit to France saying:
“If the shoes are too big for Emilokan, he should step aside. Nigeria does not need another Tourist-in-Chief. The country needs 24/7 leadership to confront the pervasive insecurity and collapsing economy.”
Netizens took to their heels to respond Atiku’s post with mixed reactions from those supportive and others clearly hostile to the 2023 presidential candidate of the PDP.
Forlan said,
“We’re at the abyss now and no time for political correctness any longer. Time to hit the bullseye and stop mincing words.
Thanks for speaking up, elder statesman”.
