Anyone Linked To Obaseki Will Lose Edo Election – Olumide Akpata
Anybody identified with Governor Godwin Obaseki of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is bound to lose any election in Edo State, Labour Party governorship aspirant, Olumide Akpata said on Tuesday as he predicted doom for the PDP flying on the wings of the PDP..
Speaking in an interview on Arise News Television’s The Morning Show, Akpata said that the PDP which was once the dominant party in Edo State has never had it so bad with the credentials of Obaseki in power.
He particularly recoiled at suggestions that he was acting the script of Obaseki in Labour Party, saying that though they were related by blood but that he considers the governor a failure not to be associated with.
As a proof of the failure, he noted the governor’s adoption of what he termed helicopter governance which he said has seen Obaseki hopping from one point of the state to the other because of the bad network of roadsO.
While noting the profundity of detachment from Obaseki among the populace, Akpata affirmed that the governor by his gestures had buried the PDP that was once the dominant political party in Edo State.
On the prospects of the PDP even with the reward of incumbency, Akpata said:
“PDP has never had it so bad in Edo State under Governor Godwin Obaseki. If you do a poll, they are at the lowest ebb. The Edo people are so eager to see the back of PDP.”
“Governance in Edo State as defined by PDP is helicopter governance. I say helicopter governance. I mean it literarily and I mean it figuratively. My governor flies to parts of Edo state in a helicopter because the roads are so bad and he cannot get there in time. That speaks volumes in a state where the farthest distance should be 1 hour 30 minutes.
While noting Governor Obaseki’s legacy of bad roads, he said:
“The roads to parts of the State are bad and my governor flies in helicopter to wherever he is going. My governor is not in touch with the people. Empathy is lacking. Compassion is missing. There is lack of healthcare facilities. Without these, there is no government, and my governor has failed.”
Akpata also identified himself with the outcry of many party members over the high cost of nomination forms as he said that he was hopeful that the cost of the nomination forms.
Akpata said that many of the issues in Labour Party especially bordering on financial malfeasances saying that being the party that Peter Obi belongs to that the issues would be resolved sooner than later.
