There is palpable fear among close associates of Funke Akindele and her husband, Abdulrasheed Bello of the difficult options they face following their arrest over the violation of the Lagos lockdown law.

The law prescribes one-month imprisonment or N100,000 fine for anyone found guilty of breaching the law.

Ms. Akindele’s husband, JJC Skillz joined her at the Panti, Yaba police station on Monday morning following her overnight detention. The husband was not at home when the police arrested Ms. Akindele and he was asked to report on Monday morning which he did.

Musician Naira Marley who was also asked to report has not reported as at the moment.

Meanwhile, there is apprehension over the possible fate of the stars should they be convicted.

The regulation as approved by the Lagos State House of Assembly states thus:

“Where there is a violation of a closedown or stay-at-home order, security agencies shall have the power to arrest without warrant and may detain any person, who violates the closedown or stay-at-home order, for at least 48 hours.

“Where the arrested person is found guilty, the person is liable to a fine of N100,000 or one-month imprisonment or three months’ community service.”

While the payment may mean nothing to any of the stars, the ex-convict stigma is one that they are sure to lament if it gets to that stage.
