Gbajabiamila in meeting over high

The Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, is currently engaged in a closed-door meeting with the National Security Adviser, NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and several ministers at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting kicked off around 05:30 pm and includes the Ministers of Education, Dr. Tahir Mamman; Finance, Wale Edun; Agriculture, Abubakar Kyari, and the State for Agriculture, Mustapha Shehuri.

While the specific agenda of the meeting remains undisclosed, it is believed to revolve around food security, particularly addressing the surge in food prices causing unrest in various states.

Reports indicate that the gathering is linked to the Presidential Committee on Emergency Food Intervention, spearheaded by the Chief of Staff to the President.

This meeting follows recent protests by women in Minna, Niger State, and aggrieved youths in Kano, both expressing grievances over the escalating cost of living nationwide.

In Minna, women staged a blockade along the Minna-Bida Road at Kpakungu Roundabout, demanding urgent action from the administration to tackle hunger in the country. Security efforts to disperse the crowd were met with resistance.

Similarly, youths in Kano voiced their frustrations over economic hardships, with assurances from the state governor, Abba Yusuf, to convey their concerns to the President.

Meanwhile, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Olawale Edun, addressed rising food prices during a bilateral meeting with a German delegation in Abuja.

Expressing government concern over the situation, Edun emphasized efforts to boost agricultural production and address demand-supply dynamics. Presidential interventions in providing support to farmers and expanding agricultural output were highlighted as key strategies to mitigate inflation and stabilize prices.
