Two bakery workers employed by FoodCo’s Ring Road, Ibadan branch, Ebenezer Olusesi (31) and Ibrahim Adeniyi (41), were taken to court on Monday for allegedly stealing two loaves of bread worth N2,600 from their employer.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Olusesi, a baker, and Adeniyi, a security guard, pleaded not guilty to theft charges at the Iyaganku Chief Magistrate’s Court. The prosecution, led by Cpl. David Adepoju, alleged that the defendants conspired to commit the crime.

The prosecution stated that on April 28, the defendants stole two loaves of bread worth N2,600, property of FoodCo Company, represented by Friday Achibong. This offense allegedly contravened sections 390 (a) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.

Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 each with two sureties each in like sum. One of the sureties must be a relation, while the second surety must present tax evidence for two years. The case was adjourned until August 15 for a hearing.

As the case of the two bakery workers accused of stealing loaves of bread from their employer unfolds, it will be interesting to see how the court rules on this unusual matter.
