Herbal Concoction Ondo State

Two persons lost their lives over the weekend in Ipe-Akoko, in Akoko South East Local Government Area of Ondo State after reportedly consuming a herbal concoction.

They reportedly consumed herbal concoctions during a traditional festival called ‘Ibogbe’. The victims, identified as Alex Ojulewa and Samuel Alonge, experienced severe vomiting and rapidly deteriorated in health after drinking the concoction, according to eyewitnesses.

Despite efforts to rush them to the nearest hospital, their condition worsened, leading to their deaths before medical assistance could be administered, as recounted by a witness named Tunji.

The Police spokesperson in Ondo State, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation had commenced over the herbal concoction that led to the death of the two persons with the intention of confirming if there was a criminal reason behind it.

“A chief came and reported at Isua police station that someone prepared a native concoction (Agbo), which he drank with two others, and thereafter the trio started vomitting.

“While on their way to the hospital, the duo of Ojulewa Alex and Alonge Samuel gave up the ghost while Adu Johnson was in a coma receiving medical treatment. The investigation is ongoing.”
