COVID-19: Spike In Edo As Lagos, Kano Slide

Nigeria’s COVID-19 figures crossed another landmark on Monday after 216 New Cases were recorded taking the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country pass 6,000 to 6,175.

The 216 new cases in 15 states and the FCT were 56% less than the 338 cases recorded in the country on Sunday.

Remarkably, the report by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC showed significant leaps and reduction in new cases in the 34 states and the FCT that have reported incidence of the COVID-19.

Edo and Zamfara were the states that showed some of the most significant increases compared with the preceding day’s returns.

Edo and Plateau States each leaped 1,400% from Zero to 14 new cases while Zamfara leaped 1,000% from zero on Sunday to 10 cases on Monday.

Katsina also showed remarkable increase in new cases jumping from nine on Sunday to 33 cases on Monday, an increase of 260%.

Lagos which have been at the epicenter of the disease recorded remarkable decreases. Lagos decreased from 177 cases on Sunday to 74, a decrease of 139%.

Kano State also recorded a sharp decrease from 64 on Sunday to 17, a fall of 276%.

There were also nine reported deaths across the country.
