A heated controversy has been sparked on social media after Nigeria’s favourite house wife, popularly known as Mummy Zee, dished out a japa advice to those who can afford to leave the country, amid the growing hardship.

Mummy Zee who dished out the advice via her Official X account wrote, “If you have an opportunity to leave this country and you don’t, your children will not forgive you.”

Her comment quickly sparked reactions on X. While some netizens saw reasons with Mummy Zee on the need to japa, a large number of netizens rose up to tackle her.

@maryam_Jidayi reposted her comment with a question, “Is this not Mummy Zee? is it not in this same Nigeria that people contributed and changed your life for good on this app? Abi it was outside Nigeria? Alabosi! No sense of National pride at all!”

@Lamayi replying @_DebbieOA said, “Why don’t you talk this rubbish when Nigeria done help your life. People can talk about this but you that have benefited from Nigeria and Nigerian shouldn’t cos the country hasn’t been bad to you.”

@IamEriOluwa argued, “While I understand you, that’s dependent on the future you create for them. Despite the ineptitude of many of our agbalowomeri Jegudujera politicians, it’s still much possible to make it big in Nigeria. Yes! It does require some level of ruggedness and grace of God, but it’s possible.

“Everyone can’t japa, and it doesn’t mean they won’t make it. Money is hidden in goods and services, regardless of the location.”

Mummy Zee argued back on her japa advice, “Hidden in goods and services yes, but investors are pulling out, businesses are getting frustrated. This country doesn’t have the Interest of its citizens at heart, everyone is fighting just to survive.”

@IamEriOluwa replied, “I very much understand your concerns. I am as angry as you and many others. But we got to let those who can’t afford the cost of Japa know that their kid’s future can be secured regardless.

“That’s why we must speak up and do everything within our power to make the government accountable while we contribute our own quota to the development.

“It’s tough and rough. Yes, things have been hard. But it’s quite harder now. And I salute everyone that’s holding on and pushing past the odds. One thing we can’t do is to give up on Nigeria. It’s our country. It doesn’t belong to all these oninakuna politricians.”

@dblastinn reasoned, “Someone will still stay behind to make the money….a country of more than 200m ? Try find something sell and you will only go abroad for holidays…. people spend every day what do you have to market?

“Some shawarma outlets dey sell more than a hundred shawarmas in a day…..think am o….abroad na still hard work but better governance def…..but they have their own problems.. they’re all humans.”

In another line of argument Mummy Zee said, “People who can afford to leave and haven’t left are those who are still getting benefits from the country, the day this country happens to them, they’ll leave the next month.”

@DavidAdew questioned, “As the country happened to you when you got to limelight with the help of people now you’re running your mouth!”

She fired back, “The country didn’t happen to me. You don’t know what it means.”

@DavidAdew advised, “Madam don’t pander to the mob with your unguarded utterance.. You made it in this county not abroad so why make such a statement!”

Recall that several months ago, Mummy Zee melted the hearts of many Nigerians who showered her with diverse gifts for her practical show of love, honour and respect for her husband.

A female at her husband’s place of work had offered her husband food. On hearing this, Mummy Zee was challenged to wake up by 4:30am to cook for her husband daily, in order to guard her home from unsuspecting intruders. By this action, Mummy Zee won admiration and respect from many.

However, given this background, one could easily understand the hurt Nigerians feel over the advice from Mummy Zee for people to japa.
