Remi Tinubu Second term

Senator Remi Tinubu, wife of the Nigerian President, has sparked controversy with her recent comments mocking young Nigerians who choose to seek employment abroad, labeling their actions as abandoning their responsibilities at home.

Speaking during a session with lawmakers, Senator Tinubu expressed her regret over educated Nigerians leaving the country to pursue menial jobs overseas, such as driving taxis, while leaving behind their loved ones and dependents.

She questioned the logic behind individuals with advanced education opting for low-skilled work abroad, emphasizing the irony of their choices compared to the opportunities available in Nigeria. Senator Tinubu’s remarks highlighted the phenomenon known as the ‘Japa Syndrome,’ referring to the trend of Nigerians seeking greener pastures abroad due to economic hardship and insecurity at home.
