Lagos Protesters Gather At Ikeja Under Bridge (Videos)

Despite tight security mobilized in Lagos against the nationwide protest against hunger, a large crowd of protesters gathered in the Ikeja Under Bridge area of the Lagos State capital to make their voices heard against hardship in the land.

Viral videos circulating on social media captured the protesters, welding placards with inscriptions like, “Let the poor breathe”; “Reverse fuel subsidy”; “Tinubu’s reform is a scam”…

The protesters at Ikeja were heard chanting and singing songs which reflected their expectations.

The protest tagged,”#EndBadGovernment” is expected to call  the attention of the government to address the prevailing economic challenges in the nation such as corruption, insecurity, hunger, inflation, etc. 

GWG.ng reports that as the protest gains traction, social media platforms are filled with pictures and videos of the protest across the nation, with many Nigerians showing their support for the movement. 

Earlier, thee governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, warned that the state will not allow the 2020 #EndSARS protest to repeat itself.

The governor gave the warning while addressing residents of the state on Wednesday, nationwide protests over hunger and hardship.

In his address, the governor noted that the 10-day protest cannot achieve what economic reforms can achieve in weeks and months while citing the destruction of valuables as losses the state is still counting.
