Seyi Law's claim state police creation

Nigerian comedian Oluwaseyitan Aletile, known as Seyi Law, has controversially claimed that state police could be misused by governors to orchestrate the execution of the President.

This assertion follows the ongoing public debate about establishing state police in Nigeria, which has faced mixed reactions from political figures.

GWG.ng reports that the assertion by Seyi Law on state police is bound to raise further controversy upon his recent appointment as an aide by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State.

Responding to news of Oyo State’s local government chairmen leaving ALGON, Seyi Law emphasized the potential for abuse of power. In his post on X, he wrote, “Imagine State Police in the hands of some Governors. They will personally organise the execution of the President.”

The statement by Seyi Law on State Police on X drew varied reactions:

@Hon. Rilwan: “Same way state police commissioners undermine Governors claiming order from above …. Every system has its flaws but fact remains there is need for state police.”

@DeleTeluwo: “Tell us about your boss, what are his plans on LG autonomy, N70,000 minimum wage, and LG election?”

@akinremi_sarah: “Your statement is way too extreme. Inasmuch as you want to defend a cause, no matter how noble; it is not appropriate to use such a gory statement. There are a million & 1 other ways to communicate effectively to your audience.”

@O’Banwo Isaac Adeleke: “A president that put the whole nation in chaos should not make a decision for a working Governor. Not every rule needs to be followed.”

@Omoniyi Adekunle: “I knew they will soon turn this boy to online commentator and reposter of narratives… Please always check Bayo Onanuga post also, You Wil get enough to repost daily.”

@Daddy Yo: “This is looking like POBJ and GBAT all over again. May God give the PBAT the wisdom to navigate this challenge.”

@Onyemaechi Donald Esq: “Governors should stop having immunity… this will help the federal in putting his policies into action.”

@Adébáyọ̀: “I sometimes imagine who actually brought this clown into politics, is this not the Seyi Law our beloved comedian?”

@Kolapo Lakejobi: “This is someone some people are projecting to be president.”

@Kappo Ebenezer Sewanu: “No brainer statement. Not a good one from a SSA to a Governor. Is excusable if said in the capacity of SEYILAW. But from a govt official that you are now. It doesn’t speak well professionally and the position you hold. Learn the ropes now. That statement is too weighty.”

@Adebayo. $RCADE: “Why is presido also doing falafolo.”

@Otunba Parakoyi2: “More reason I felt reluctant about it. Imagine state police in the hands of ppl like Adeleke ha! Nkan yan niyen o!”

@KINGIN: “See what eating too much corn can cause🥺.”

@Abirika Preciousme: “Same way the president/presidency is organizing the execution of some governors abi?”

@D’mayor: “I am with you on this.”

@Drogba of Lagos _ MFR: “Seyi Makinde tickets don cast 😆😆.”

@Oluwatayo: “State police is a must!”

@Rayza || Mix Engineer: “Let’s screenshot and keep this first, in case.”

@Grateful to God: “E no bad if they try am now sha…”

@Omoologo 👑: “When we criticise state police because Nigeria isn’t ripe for it, many people attack us.”

@Charles Iyare: “This is @PeterObi handwork o.”

@tradesmart101.bit$JIN #JINArmy: “No matter how bad state police seem to be, it is far better than what we have today.”

These responses reflect a broad spectrum of opinions on the contentious issue of state police in Nigeria
