Woman partner After he was Out Of Money

Lauren Harris, a 29-year-old woman with a history of violence and theft, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the brutal murder of her 65-year-old partner, Mark Wilcox.

The incident occurred at Wilcox’s seafront home in Colwyn Bay, North Wales, on November 20, 2023. Wilcox, a retired Ministry of Defence computer expert, had entered into a relationship with Harris with the intention of supporting her during his retirement.

However, Harris exploited his generosity, repeatedly borrowing money and causing him significant financial strain.

Over a period of five months, Wilcox withdrew £12,000 from his bank account to support Harris.

The tragic night unfolded when Harris invited her friends, David Webster, 43, and Thomas Whiteley, 33, for an evening of drinking and drug-taking.

The situation escalated violently, with Harris and Webster attacking Wilcox with a knife and a vodka bottle.

According to court testimonies, Harris looked like a “crazed animal” during the attack, stabbing Wilcox twice as he sat in his armchair.

Webster, who was also sentenced to life with a minimum term of 23 years, expressed his disdain for Harris as they were led from the dock, calling her a “psychopathic bitch.”

The judge, Mr. Justice Pepperall, noted Harris’s lack of remorse, stating, “I detect no remorse.”

The court heard that Harris had a string of previous convictions for assault and theft. Prosecuting KC Andrew Ford highlighted her violent past, including an unlawful wounding conviction in 2022 involving the use of a knife against a partner.

On the night of the murder, Harris fled the scene in Wilcox’s red Volvo with Webster and Whiteley.

They were later involved in a car crash, which led police to discover Wilcox’s lifeless body in his living room. He had been punched, kicked, and stamped on, suffering broken ribs and multiple stab wounds.

Harris initially denied any involvement in the murder, blaming her friends Webster and Whiteley.

However, the evidence presented in court, including CCTV footage and witness testimonies, painted a damning picture of her role in the crime.
