Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, made headlines with his bold claim about Nigeria’s oil revenue, stating that the country has not earned any oil-related income since February.

He declared, “Nigeria’s oil money is finished,” adding that the revenue being shared by the government are mainly generated from Customs, corporate taxes, and other sources.

However, Soludo’s statement sparked criticism on social media, with many questioning his position to make such a claim. Critics pointed out that, as a state governor, Soludo is not directly involved in managing Nigeria’s oil sector or management of the revenue.

One commenter expressed frustration, saying, “Since April, really? What’s going on in this country? How come we had to hear this from Governor Soludo and not the Minister of Finance or Minister of Petroleum?”

Another questioned Soludo’s authority on the matter, stating, “Who is Soludo? Is he the petroleum minister? You are listed among the bad politicians in Nigeria.”

Several netizens also took the opportunity to remind Soludo of his past political alliances, pointing out his support for President Bola Tinubu during the last election. One critic remarked, “Dear Prof @CCSoludo, there is no need to scream. During the last election, you were all over the place campaigning for @officialABAT while you maligned @PeterObi. The man you supported is the Minister of Petroleum. Please, enjoy his leadership in peace and stop disturbing us.”
