DSS police Ijesaland Palace Monarch's Death Rumors

Security operatives have taken control of the palace of Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, due to rumors about the monarch’s death.

GWG.ng learned that both the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have been stationed at the palace. Reports indicate that the security forces have also closed the gates to the palace.

Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, 87, had ruled for 42 years.

According to The Nation, the monarch was admitted to Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital in Ile-Ife, Osun State, and remained there until Wednesday.

Reliable sources within the palace confirmed to the platform that the monarch passed away on Wednesday. A family member shared, “We are crying and mourning right now. We’re not answering calls from outsiders, but I’m making an exception for you.”

The family source also mentioned that the personal belongings of Oba Adekunle Aromoralaran are being removed from the palace.

Meanwhile, another security source noted, “The Nigeria Police and DSS have taken over the palace and have shut the gates.”

GWG.ng reports that Oba Adekunle Aromolaran had been reputed as the first Yoruba monarch to hold a Phd and is widely recognised for his intellectual fecundity and was author of the classic economics textbook, Economics for West Africa which was a compulsory text for secondary school students in the last quarter of the last century.
