Court Issues Arrest Warrant On Netanyahu For Starving Gazans
By GWG International Affairs Editor
Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and erstwhile defense minister Yoav Gallant along with Hamas leader, Mohammed Deif have been declared wanted for war crimes by the International Criminal Court, ICC following three arrest warrants.
GWG.ng reports that the trio were indicted for war crimes on account of the ongoing war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas.
The Israeli Prime Minister was indicted by the court for allegedly using starvation as a weapon of the war against Hamas. Netanyahu and Gallant are accused of deliberately withholding water and food from the people of Gaza.
The ICC has as such issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and the two other officials
GWG.ng reports that the arrest warrant on Netanyahu is bound to be an escalation of the legal situation around the situation in the Middle East which was triggered on October 7, 2023 when Hamas insurgents crossed the border with Israel and killed more than 1,200 persons and took more than 200 hostage.
Israel has since then responded with a ferocious attack on Hamas enclave in Gaza in a war that has now spread to Lebanon having dragged in, the Islamic group, Hezbollah into the conflict.
GWG.ng reports that the arrest warrant on Nethanyahu is bound to be tricky for the Israeli prime minister in his future engagements with some members of the international community. Remarkably, Israel claims to have killed Hamas official, Mohammed Deif making the arrest warrant ineffective.
