One Pilot Dead, Three Injured As DHL Cargo Plane Crashes

A DHL cargo plane operated by Swiftair cargo plane crashed near a residential area in Vilnius, Lithuania early Monday morning.

The plane, which was en route from Leipzig, Germany, crashed at around 5:30 am local time.

One pilot lost his life in the crash, while another pilot and two DHL employees survived but were injured.

The plane crashed in a residential yard, narrowly avoiding further casualties. Firefighters quickly responded to the blaze, and nearby residents were evacuated as a safety measure.

Lithuanian authorities confirmed that airport operations remained unaffected. The airport authority shared on social media, “City services, along with fire and airport command teams, are actively managing the situation. Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.”
