Ojy Okpe Returns As Abati Trends (Video)

Popular presenter of the What’s Trending Segment on Arise News’ The Morning Show, Ojy Okpe returned to the programme on Monday albeit with mixed reception from fellow hosts.

While Ayo Mario-Ese and Rufai Oseni were enthusiastic welcoming her with affection, Dr Reuben Abati with whom Ojy Okpe had the brush penultimate week was particularly lukewarm.

The usually loud Ojjjjy Okpe introduction was completely absent as Abati welcomed her to her segment with a bland reception that was a complete departure from the past.

GWG.ng reports that the controversy arose after Dr Abati penultimate Thursday claimed on air that the Igbo do not sell land to strangers. It was a claim that was controverted on social media by many that day. The following day, Friday, Ojy Okpe during her segment brought up the issue and sought Abati’s reaction which made the lead anchor to shout down the proposal of revisiting what he described as nonsense saying that he would not go back on the issue.

His poise was seen by some as bullying against Ojy Okpe who did not grace the programme throughout last week.

She, however, made a return on Monday to the hearty reception from Rufai Oseni and Ayo Mario-Ese as Abati was significantly restrained in his normal welcome.

Seriously if I was Abati I would have used the opportunity today to ask for apologies and forgiveness be a big man and move on from there there’s no point carrying this animosity into work. One of the reasons the show is so successful is the relationship between them all I guess that’s all gone now/sour .

He’s a shameless man. He’s lost all the respect people had for him. I Like the way Oji kept her grove and vibes flaming like nothing happened. That’s professionalism and maturity. Dr. Abati can sulk for all we care, he messed up big time.

However, amid the backlash over the cold reception as Ojy Okpe returned, Abati was, however, praised over his elucidation on the tax reform proposals of the federal administration.
