Kogi APC Youths Warn Oshiomhole: Bello Has Made Our State Laughing Stock
By Our Kogi Correspondent
Adams Oshiomhole has been warned against fielding Yahaya Bello as the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi State saying the governor has turned the state into a laughing stock among people in the country.
Kogi State coordinator of the APC Youth Vanguard, John Audu while declaring the opposition of the youths to Bello’s candidature said fielding him would lead to the party losing the state.
“The governor has turned Kogi State into a laughing stock in the country and has turned Kogi workers and pensioners into beggars. We, the youths of the party, are in tune with the people of the state and we pass a vote of no confidence on him”.
“Yahaya Bello messed up a golden opportunity that was made available by the deceased Alhaji Abubakar Audu and other progressives in the state. He is deliberately short-changing civil servants and pensioners by his refusal to pay salaries and pension for 38 months.”
Warning that the opposition to Bello was across party affiliation, he said: “the entire state are prepared to drop partisanship aside and vote out Governor Bello should the party be deceived into giving the ticket to him.”
“Governor Yahaya Bello repeatedly failed to pay salaries and
pension since his coming to power despite the hundreds of billions of naira he
received from allocation, the federal government bailout funds, Paris Club
refund and other monetary sources. Bello deceived us to believing that he was
doing verification exercise since he took power but almost four years and that
seem to he unending.
“In addition to these, the governor destroyed the party by
using state apparatus against anyone that tells him to do what is right and
even party leaders that signified interest in his office,” he added.
The opposition to Bello from the youth group is coming amidst strong lobby by the governor for the ticket with recent visits to Oshiomhole and APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu
