Home Trouble For APC Running Mate, Audu

Published

on

The emergence of Hon. Gani Audu, as the running mate to Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has come under fire with some in his community alleging that he failed the community in putting politics ahead of the interest of the people.

Audu was one of the members of the House of Assembly elected to the House of Assembly who did not take up their seats in the legislative house upon the political contentions over the election of the Speaker of the House.

Some of his constituents in Etsako West allege that his refusal to take up his seat denied them privileges and palliatives that those who took up their seats got.

There were reports that the aggrieved members of the community took their issues to the streets when the yet to be inaugurated lawmaker visited the traditional ruler of his native Agbede.

One report alleged that he was heckled over his failure to take up his seat.

A source close to the Obaseki Campaign excited over the development said:
“It is shameful that Audu Gani will visit our monarch after he failed the community when he served as local government council chairman for eight years and a member of the House of Assembly for four years.”

The source quoted one of the protesters, Mayowa Akhadelor as saying “The major road leading to Audu Gani’s community was recently constructed by Governor Godwin Obaseki. For us, we can’t stand the shame Gani Audu represents because he failed us in the past and we know he will fail in the future. No sensible person in Agbede and the entire Edo North will vote for Gani or the APC’s governorship candidate.”
