Nigerians Can’t Forget Sam Loco 9 Years After

Nigerians have celebrated the legacy of one of the country’s greatest actors and movie stars, Sam Loco who died nine years ago last Friday.

Sam Loco as he was popularly known grew to affect different generations of Nigerians with his remarkable capacity to break jaws with laughter.

His legacy of cracking ribs with laughter across different segments of the society was particularly pointed. He affected the rich, poor and even and his jokes apparently offended no one.

was born in Enugu of Bini parentage, raised in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State and even for a time fought on the Biafran side during the civil war.

He came to prominence in the old Bendel State as a member of the cast of Hotel De Jordan where he was cast as the troublesome Chief Ukata Bribri.

Sam Loco cast as a village judge

On the occasion of the ninth anniversary of his death, his son, Omoruyi who was about doing his bar exams when his father died at the age 72 in 2011 had posted a memorial on twitter which drew several favourable memories of the king of laughter.
