Delta PDP, APC Fight Over Okowa’s Edo Campaign Claims
By GWG Staff
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s campaign foray across the border into Edo State a week ago has continued to raise fireworks in his native Delta State.
On Monday the All Progressives Congress, APC and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP chapters in the state were locked in a war of words over the propriety of the governor’s claims that the return of Governor Godwin Obaseki as governor of Edo State would lead to the replication of what he described as the prevailing prosperity for all Deltans also in Edo State.
It was a claim that was quickly punctured by the APC spokesman in Delta State, Sylvester Imonina who charged voters in Edo State not to believe what Governor Okowa said.
It was a claim that was stoutly rebuffed by the PDP spokesman in Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Ozuoza who described the APC as a party of confused persons regularly on the lookout to bark like a dog without any justifiable cause.
Provokingly, the PDP spokesman also dubbed Imonina as an impostor as spokesman of the APC.
“Our advice to Sylvester Imonina is to try as much as possible to clear his head of bitterness and confusion, clear his name from the damning allegation of impersonation which his own party has brought on his head and to also try as much as possible to understand what party politics really means.”
Responding in a fit of rage, Imonina accused the PDP spokesman of lacking etiquette.
“We want to state that Delta PDP is the one whose name and activities are synonymous with unseriousness and confusion.
“Delta PDP on the other hand, an amalgam of political jobbers is known to bully every voice that does not align with the Pharoah. Delta State has been turned to a fiefdom,” he said.
