Big Hope For Lagos In Battle Against COVID-19
252 New Cases In 17 States and FCT On Tuesday
Nigeria recorded 252 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday with infections spread across 17 states and the FCT.
The figure was one of the lowest figures reported across the country in the last four months
In a major development, Lagos State which has been the epicenter of the pandemic reported its lowest figure in four months with 26 new cases on Monday.
The highest report was from Plateau State which reported 50 new cases followed by Enugu with 35 and Rivers 27.
It was the second time since the outbreak of the pandemic that Lagos was not among the first three states in the tally of new cases.
However, cause for cheer in Lagos is tempered with the news that the state’s commissioner for health, Prof. Akin Abayomi was on Monday confirmed positive with the coronavirus.
The 252 new cases reported on Monday brought the total number of infections in the country to 52,800. The NCDC also reported that 39,964 persons had recovered while 1,007 persons have died.
