As FG Faces Twitter Crisis, Bandits Kill 66 In Kebbi
It has emerged that with the Federal Government preoccupied with managing issues arising from the ban on Twitter in Nigeria that bandits have killed at least 66 persons in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The local government area was the same one where bandits killed nine policemen including the Divisional Police Officer, DPO of the area last April.
Daily Trust quoted the spokesperson of the Kebbi State police command, DSP Nafiu Abubakar, as saying that the bandits committed the massacre on Thursday in eight villages of the council.
He further told Daily Trust that though the police were still counting the number of the dead, but the state police command had already dispatched a detachment of the officers and men of the police force to the area.
He said, “The killing took place in Koro, kimpi, Gaya, Dimi, Zutu, Rafin Gora and Iguenge villages, all in Danko/Wasagu LGA of Kebbi State.”
Daily Trust gathered that majority of the people of the affected villages have escaped to the nearby town of Riba for safety.
In April, bandits killed nine policemen among whom was the Police DPO of Danko/Wasagu LGA, Kebbi State.
