APC PDP Rivers campaign

Uncertainty has enveloped Rivers State as the collation of the results of Saturday’s governorship and state House of Assembly elections has run into confusion.

The confusion has been fueled by the mobilization of security men around the offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, headquarters on Aba-Port Harcourt, Road, Rivers State.

The security men have locked out accredited journalists from the collation centre.

The uncertainty has been fueled by the circulation on social media of results putting the African Action Congress, AAC backed by the minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi heavily trouncing Governor Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

In the only certified result in Ahoada West Local Government Area of the state, the AAC candidate, Biokpomabo Awara was declared to have defeated Governor Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP by 44,857 votes to 5,866.

The results were announced in Akinima on Sunday morning at the INEC office by the LGA Collation Officer, Okechukwu Francis.

Until he was announced as the official candidate adopted by Amaechi’s faction of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Awara was not reckoned with in the contest.
