Buhari’s Statute Surfaces Owerri As President Visits

Muhammadu Buhari could be set to unveil his statue in Owerri on Tuesday as he commences a state visit to Imo State.

The scheduled visit according to the Imo State Government is to “Commission some of the landmark projects of Governor Rochas Okorocha, including the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport.”

A statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemedo on Monday disclosed that the president following the commissioning of the airport proceed to “the sites of other outstanding projects for Commissioning, including the Ultra-modern Police Headquarters, the Magnificent Prison Headquarters, et al and all built by Governor Okorocha.”

The state government, however, did not disclose the scope of work done on the airport originally built more than 20 years ago that the president would be commissioning.

It is, however, envisaged that the statute of the president already adorning the Hero Square alongside those of other African leaders could also be unveiled during the president’s visit.
