Apapa Gridlock: Female LATSMA Officer Crushed Effecting Presidential Directive

A female operative of the Lagos State Transport Management Agency, LASTMA was crushed to death while effecting the presidential directive to clear the Apapa traffic gridlock on Saturday.

The incident happened when a Borno State registered articulated truck XB 220 MAG reversed suddenly and crushed her to the wall. The incident happened near Area B, Apapa Police Station. LATSMA has vowed to prosecute the driver of the truck as a deterrence to other drivers.

The deceased officer, Folashade Arogundade, 33 it was gathered was survived by her two year old child.

Efforts by her colleagues to save her life when they rushed her to a nearby hospital failed as the doctors on duty at the Apapa hospital confirmed her dead on arrival.

The death was confirmed by the general manager of  LASTMA Wale Musa who vowed that the driver would be prosecuted as a deterrence to other drivers.

Musa was quoted by LATSMA spokesman, Mahmud Hassan as saying:

“The deceased was busy with her duty when the truck reversed suddenly without the driver or his assistant standing behind to the vehicle to guard him.

“The vehicle crushed her to the wall. In a bid to rescue Folashade, her colleagues rushed her to Apapa General Hospital where the medical doctor confirmed her as Brought-in-Dead (B.I.D).”
