The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on Friday called on the European Union not to abandon Nigeria despite what it described as the increasing grip of dictatorship. The party has observed that future generations of Nigerians may not live to see democracy without close marking of the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

Speaking when he received a delegation of the EU at the party’s campaign headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, the deputy national chairman (South) of the party, Elder Yemi Akinwonmi observed that the Buhari regime had even turned the institutions created by a PDP government to fight corruption into a political machine.

“We are almost back in the dark days of military dictatorship. Nigeria is moving closely to a failed state. “You should continue to monitor happenings here because whatever happens to Nigeria will affect the whole of Africa. If you don’t continue in monitoring the electoral process, future generations may have no democracy to witness in Nigeria.”

Head of the EU delegation Marrie Arena had earlier informed the party chief that they came visiting ahead of the submission of their report on the recent General Election.
