Under Pressure, Lawan Withdraws Adedayo’s Appointment

Senate President Ahmad Lawan has buckled under pressure from All Progressives Congress, APC partisans and withdrawn the appointment of Mr. Festus Adedayo as special adviser on media and publicity.

The withdrawal of the appointment was contained in a statement issued by the special assistant to the president on media, Isa Mohammed.

No reason was given for the decision but it follows attack on the appointment by APC partisans who considered Adedayo as a severe critic of President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC.

Mr. Adedayo who had in the past served meritoriously even outside his state of origin in Enugu and Oyo States had, however, been praised as a professional by the mainstream media.

The statement announcing the withdrawal of the appointment read thus:

“The office of the President of the Senate has reviewed the appointment of Mr. Festus Adedayo as Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the President of the Senate and decided to rescind its decision on the appointment, and wishes Mr. Adebayo the best in his future endeavours.”
