Tribunal Sacks Ondo PDP Rep For Having UK Citizenship

The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, sitting in Akure, on Wednesday, nullified the election of Ikengboju Gboluga, as member representing  Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency of Ondo state under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The decision of the tribunal was hinged on Gboluga’s sworn allegiance to the United Kingdom as a citizen of that country.

The tribunal ruled that Gboluga was not eligible to have contested the February 23, 2019, National Assembly election due to his allegiance to the United Kingdom.

The tribunal as such declared Albert Akintoye of the All Progressives Congress, APC who came second as the winner of the election and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to issue Certificate of Return to Akintoye and  withdraw same from Gboluga.
