Atiku’s Son-In-Law, Lawyer Arraigned For Money Laundering

Abdullahi Babalele, a son-in-law of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar was on Wednesday arraigned before a Lagos Federal High Court  charged with money laundering. Babalele is also said to be a key strategist in Atiku’s businesses.

He was arraigned alongside Atiku’s lawyer, Uyiekpen Giwa-Osagie on similar charge by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC before Justice Nicholas Oweibo.

Babalele was arraigned for allegedly laundering $140,000 ahead of the 2019 General Election in which Atiku contested as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP against President Muhammadu Buhari who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Giwa-Osagie was on his part arraigned for allegedly laundering $2 million ahead of the election.

Both men pleaded not guilty and their bail applications will be taken on Thursday.
