KOGI PRIMARY: APC Clears Late Audu’s Brother, Bars His Two Sons, Two Retired Generals

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reversed the decision of the screening committee to bar 12 of the 16 aspirants for the Kogi State governorship primary. Among those now cleared is Yahaya Audud, the junior brother of the party’s deceased founder in the state, Prince Abubakar Audu.

However, two of the children of the late Audu who are also contesting for the governorship ticket were barred.

The NWC in a statement made available to GreenWhiteGreen said that nine aspirants have been cleared for the primary while seven others were barred.

Among those barred were AVM Usman Jibrin who was at one time considered the option of the opposition to remove Governor Yahaya Bello, the incumbent.

The nine cleared were Yahaya Bello, Hadiza Iyoma Ibrahim, Yahaya Odidi Audu, Sani Lulu Abdullahi and Engr. Abubakar Bashir.

Also cleared were Engr. Danlami Umar Mohammed, Yakubu Mohammed, Hassan Abdullahi, Ekele Aishat Blessing.

Those not cleared were Prof. Mohammed Seidu Onaili, Usman Oyibe Jibrin, Mustapha Mona Audu, Rukkaya Ibrahim, Gen. Patrick Adenu Akpa, Babatunde Ayo Kunle Irukera, Muhammed Abubakar and Unukwu Audu.
