A former deputy governor of Ogun State Alhaja Salmot Badru has led over 1,000 supporters of the People s Democratic Party (PDP) to dump the party for the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Badru was Deputy-Governor between 2007 and 2011 in the Gbenga Daniel administration.

Daniel, who was the director-general of the Atiku Abubakar Campaign in the days leading to the PDP convention is, however, not joining the APC, at least for now, a confidant told GreenWhiteGreen.

The former governor who announced his stepping aside from partisan politics just after the presidential election will continue to watch from outside “for now,” his confidant said.

He, however, acknowledged that the majority of his supporters including Badru were heading to the APC.

Badru and other defectors were received by the factional chairman of the APC, Chief Yemi Sanusi; his Secretary , Ayo Olubori; and Senior Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Political Matters, Tunji Egbetokun.

She said the development was to formalise her movement and that of her followers in Daniel ’s group into the APC .

She said, “I am not just joining . I worked for the current governor , Dapo Abiodun ; and if you follow the development , you will know that I was part of the transition committee . “It is just to formalise my movement and that of my followers into the APC.”
